The latest Wildtide release brings the Schooner's decks closer to the ships you build on land.
Stairs that work like stairs
Ordinary Wooden Stairs — the same crafted item you place on an island — can now be built aboard the Modular Schooner wherever they fit, either as a full flight or as a ship-sized companion between the lower and main decks. Placement previews, rotation, click-to-build and removal all go through the server, with the usual permission and inventory checks.
Building a companion stair now cuts a framed, railed opening in the deck above it. Take the stairs down and the deck closes again. The open main hatchway also gains protective rails, while still letting you reach a flight built beneath it.

A tidier ship
- Stern wheel. New Schooner wheel positions are limited to the stern. Ships with an existing saved layout keep their wheel where it is.
- Camera. The third-person camera no longer collapses when you stand near the deck edges.
- Deck clean-up. An unwanted windlass, unused deck pumps and a mismatched canvas bundle are gone, and the bow deck is finished in timber planking.
- Headsails. The bowsprit and jibboom attachments are corrected, and the jib and staysail now show visible roller-furling. Sail controls and propulsion are unchanged.
- Onboard management. Managing an afloat Schooner from the ship menu now requires being aboard her.
Saves come first
Stairs, interiors and their deck openings survive saves, restarts and region crossings. If a building record can't be placed when a ship loads, it is kept with the ship and retried rather than thrown away.
Companion stairs are a first version: for now they have only a few valid positions beside the original companion, one side at a time.
